Following an introduction to the Orkney energy picture by Gareth Davies, Dan McGrail, CEO of Great British Energy, explained their plans to promote their Local Power Plan. Dan and his team were up for a 3 day visit to Orkney and were able to participate in this ‘fireside chat’ (it was the last evening before ‘purdah’ for the Scottish Parliament elections when no public announcements can be made).
Dan explained how he had wanted to come to Orkney for many years to see for himself the progress Orkney has made in decarbonising our energy system through local individual actions and decisions. He said he was very impressed and left promising to be an advocate for what we are doing. He also left with a clear offer for Orkney to share its experiences (good and bad) with those trying to decarbonise. Watch this space (and the video on-line).
