A draft EV Strategy for Orkney
OREF produced the last EV Strategy for Orkney in 2017 for the period up to 2023. It had the ambitious target of enabling 500 EVs in Orkney when at the time there were probably fewer than 50 on our roads.
Since then we have seen EVs move to main-stream and Orkney has been reasonably well prepared for that transition. There are probably now the projected 500 EVs on our road, possibly more. However the next stages will see the mass adoption of EVs and we need to be ready for 5,000 in the next 5 years or so. Orkney needs a Strategy to handle this.
OREF has produced a draft new strategy which will be presented at the October meeting.
If you drive an EV or are just generally interested, then please do come along and ‘kick the tyres’ of the ideas about to be put forward.
